Some journeys are remembered for the places we visit.
Others are remembered for the people beside us.
This journey was both.
My elder brother and his wife moved to Canada about thirty years ago.
They have lived far away for most of those years, but the closeness
between us has never really changed.
This time, we had the chance to travel together again.
We started in Guangzhou, then continued to Shenzhen and Zhongshan —
three places, many meals, many walks, and many small moments shared
along the way.
There was nothing particularly hurried about the journey.
We walked, ate, talked, looked around, and simply enjoyed being
together.
Perhaps that is what made it meaningful.
After so many years of living in different places,
having a few days together felt more precious than any itinerary.
Arriving in Zhongshan
A shared meal
Zhongshan at night
A quiet moment together
Evening streets and familiar company
Exploring a little more of the city
Walking beside the water
Slow mornings and familiar flavors
Wandering through the streets
Another small memory along the way
Lights reflected on the water
A slow walk through the neighborhood
Small discoveries along the way
Deciding where to wander next
A little more time together by the water
Travelling together, simply enjoying the day
Good food shared together
One more evening beside the water
After Zhongshan, my brother and his wife continued their journey
to Beijing on their own. I did not go with them.
And just like that, our little journey together came to an end.
We don't know when we will travel together again.
But these few days are now part of the memories we share —
a simple journey through Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhongshan,
made special simply because we were together.
Some journeys are about the places.
Some are about the people.
This one was about both.
